Well, we made it folks, we’ve been married for an entire year now!! Who knew that time could fly so fast. It seems only yesterday that I found myself crying with joy and disbelief at how blessed I was to have the privilege of marrying such an amazing woman who loves God so obviously in all that she does. Our 1st year anniversary was on the 16th of May, and what an amazing year it has been. A lot has changed!!
We are beginning to learn our way around Fortaleza, and are getting involved in the church. We are still looking and applying for a house to rent. Please pray with us that God will provide the perfect place for us to live.
One last note is that because it is so difficult for Brazilians to pronounce Erin’s name, we decided that she will go by her middle name, Nicole, since it’s also a beautiful name and more common here in Brazil, making it much easier for everybody to pronounce and remember.
Running the Race,
Isaiah and Erin (Nicole 🙂 Huber
It’s been a week since we landed in Fortaleza, Brazil! We had a really good last week in California spending time with Erin’s family and saying goodbye to friends. It wasn’t easy to say goodbye but we’re so grateful to internet and skype that allows us to keep in touch! We both got sick a couple days before our trip so we were pretty worn out after the 20 hour trip. We were so happy to see Isaiah’s cousin, aunt and uncle at the airport! We have been staying at Isaiah’s aunt and uncle’s house while looking for an apartment/house to rent and a car to buy. So far we have a couple possibilities but nothing for sure. The first couple days we spent running around trying to get all of our paperwork in order, who knew it could take 4 trips to the bank before you could open an account? I (Erin) am always reminded how easy life in America is when I’m in a different country. We are so grateful that, with the help of Isaiah’s aunt, we found a Portuguese tutor for Erin. Classes start tomorrow ready or not!
Yesterday Isaiah woke up with a fever, swollen lymph nodes, and a really sore throat. After looking in his throat it was obvious that he had come downwith strep throat:(. Thankfully you can get antibiotics over the counter here and this morning his fever broke. He is still recovering a doing better. Please pray for our health as we’ve been sick on and off this week making it difficult to get moved in. Please also pray that God will show us where He wants us to live, what car we should buy, and that He would give me the motivation and brain power to learn Portuguese! Praise God that we are here in Fortaleza, we are excited to see how God is going to use us here.
